Enjoy!
Here you go, folks! The epic conclusion (and even more epic author's notes) to Jason's... well, epic story, Of Possible Alternatives!
Enjoy!

Well, one last update for you before I go off to bed, this one presenting you with what is the largest chunk of Of Possible Alternatives, yet is made up of only one of the explored alternatives. Think of it as the equivalent of A Fistful of Yen in Kentucky Fried Movie. The main piece that everything else was built around and / or leading to.
And a very epic piece, as well. I am proud to host this piece of fiction on the Boy Scouts ½ website. I must admit, however, that I couldn't resist tinkering with it a wee bit. Not to say I didn't tinker with any of the previous parts as I was preparing them for inclusion on the website, but with the previous parts it was only the most minor of things. But here, I may have made some slightly more substantial tweaks. Nothing too drastic, it is still mainly what Jason wrote... But I definitely have added my two cents here or there to the narrative. At most, though, I'd maybe claim 5% me with a still substantial 95% belonging to the good Mr. Bertovich. Hopefully he doesn't object to my slight alterations or additions. Without further adieu... Of Possible Alternatives, part Five: Neon Genesis Boy Scouts. Enjoy! (While I would hope people are reading the entirety of Of Possible Futures, I would say that even if you are for some reason skipping the rest of it, you should read this part. This part really is very good, and works well as a stand alone. All you really need going in is the knowledge that is a "What if?" tale, placing Boy Scouts ½ characters into a different setting. Oh, and I suppose a passing knowledge of Neon Genesis Evangelion may also be slightly helpful...) Back probably tomorrow... er, later today... with the final bit of the story and the most extensive author's notes ever to grace this website. Jason's been getting a lot of press lately, eh? Well, I suppose that's what happens when I have some unpublished writing of his that I've been sitting on for a few years... And it also helps make it seem more impressive when I've split what he gave me as one story into six parts.
And on that note, here's the next two parts of Of Possible Alternatives, by Jason Bertovich! Of Possible Alternatives, part Three, covering Quack Experimental Fan-Fic Proctor Saga, Perspectives From the Training Ground of Cursed Springs, and Professor What. Of Possible Alternatives, part Four, covering Matt Atanian vs. The World, Becker's Music Shop, and Girl Scouts ½. Back soon with the rest of Of Possible Futures! I present to you the next part of Jason Bertovich's story, Of Possible Alternatives, in which Kenny and Becker experience The Scout, Kill Bill Hughes, and Encyclopedia Galactica.
Also, the Timeline has been updated to reflect Of Possible Alternatives. Enjoy! Due to circumstances that I shall not go into on this blog, I have been unable to sleep this past night but for most of that time not been directly occupied with things that prevent me from working on my computer. (Man, the birds are chirping! Stupid birds... Suppose that sun thing will be rising soon, eh?)
Anyway, some time ago (Like a few years ago!) Jason Bertovich presented me with a story of epic length he titled Of Possible Alternatives. This story actually seems to span all aspects of The Boy Scouts ½ Universe, drawing from the main series and both of its spin-offs. It did need a specific home, however, and so since the framing device seems to involve Kenny and Becker in Kenny's Lab, I have decided to index the story on the Kenny's Laboratory page. On the story itself, however, you will see the logos for all three series proudly displayed. Remember me mentioning this story's epic length? Well, you're not getting all of it right away. I'm splitting the story into multiple parts, to make it somewhat easier both for readers to digest and for myself to put online. Fortunately, the story is one that lends itself well to this being done to it. So here you go! Enjoy the first part of Of Possible Alternatives by Jason Bertovich! The last Kenny's Lab story is now available for you all to read.
The first half is, following on from the previous story, a somewhat obligatory space battle which as I look back on it doesn't strike me as the best writing I've done, but what follows after that and concludes the series strikes me as some nice work. I think I tend to be one of my harsher critics, so if I seem positive towards something, it's hopefully a good sign. Anyway, enjoy the final Kenny's Lab! Back soon with more of the main series. Well, before bed I thought I'd give you two more stories! I'm getting back to finishing off Kenny's Laboratory, as I previously said I would. And I have two more for you now! The seventh and third Kenny's Lab stories!
Yes, you read that right. Back in the day, Jason was originally supposed to write the third one, but something happened and I ended up writing it instead. Some time much later, Jason did end up penning a Kenny's Lab, which was intended by him to be a side story. But I didn't want Kenny's Lab side stories... and so I decided to take advantage of the fact that (aside from the file names) the Kenny's Lab stories were unnumbered. I figured out where in continuity Jason's story would fit... and wouldn't you know it, it would be between the second and third ones! So Jason's story ended up going where it was originally supposed to, anyway! So this is the one time in the universe of Boy Scouts ½ that stories within a series are specifically presented and intended to be read in an order other then the one in which they are written. Of course, if your first experience with any of these stories is through this website (rather then the infamously vanished old website) then this is all rather a moot point, anyway. But I just wanted to get that all stated for the vague historical value. Anyway, enjoy the next two Kenny's Lab stories! Kenny's Laboratory: Hell Comes to Springfield (by Jason Bertovich) and Kenny's Laboratory: Perspectives From the Magnificent World (by yours truly, based a bit on an idea from Jason). Back soon with more Kenny's Lab! One last thing... If you haven't been to the site within the last few days and might not have seen other recent blog posts, I ask that you please do continue on a bit further and at least read yesterday's one. I talk a bit in it about a web comic called Mock Girl, and I would like all of my visitors who care enough to read these ramblings to see what I had to say about it. Thank you! The second Kenny's Laboratory story, Enter the Becker, is now available for reading.
I was going to present the third one today, as well... but while prepping it, I noticed some slight references to things that would put it after the next main series story arc. I was like, "Huh, I could have sworn Kenny's Lab all took place in January," where as the next main series arc is set in February. But no bother, late February (or even early March) should still work for the rest of Kenny's Lab. (I don't recall anything in them that would contradict that placement in the timeline... hopefully I don't spot any such things when preparing the stories for their new home!) So what does this mean for you, the reader? Not much, except you only get one Kenny's Lab today rather then two. But on the bright side, it means I'll be able to get to the next three main series stories earlier then I'd thought I would, and when I am done with that the next Kenny's Lab is theoretically all set and ready to go! Back soon, then, with Boy Scouts ½, part 14! And so begins the second Boy Scouts ½ spin-off, written by yours truely but obviously inspired by some things revealed about Kenny in Mike Quadrozzi's part 13 of the main series. Anyway, please enjoy Kenny's Laboratory!
